
Julie Cook loves to travel but also has two young children and doesn't get many opportunities. So when husband took some time off work and gave her a car to travel.
Traveling. It’s something I have always loved to do. I lived in Canada for six months as a student and, later, in Italy for six years. But after having two children – I didn’t travel a lot. You see, finally at the age of 37, I’ve come to realize that I need to travel again.
Oh yes, we all need our cars. To do the school run, get the weekly shop and get from A to B. But there’s something truly romantic, respectable and comfortable way about train travel.
Other good points of train travel? No traffic jams; no running out of petrol; no getting lost or annoying in your ear. You can also have a coffee – or a mini bottle of wine or two – on a train... kids love them.
So when my husband agreed to have our two children for a few days , I could experience the very best of train travel.
Better yet, it would be traveling to an area of Britain I truly love – from London all the way to the West Country.
Over the next seven weeks I will be showing you the wonders of the beautiful cities, we can all reach simply by stepping aboard a train.
