It’s a love story that lasted a lifetime in Bakersfield, Calif. 

Don and Maxine Simpson met at a bowling alley. And they couldn’t leave without each other from that time. Later, they got married, had two boys, and traveled around the world. Many people in Bakersfield knew them. As years passed, Maxine got a cancer, and Don was ill seriously in hospital. Two weeks ago, Sloan, their grandson, brought Don home to be with his wife. “I knew in my heart that Grandma and Grandpa should stay together and Grandma and Grandpa are going to die together,”Sloan said.

The couples were married 62 years and spent their final hours as they always had, together, holding hands and smiling.
