How do children know that they are growing? A research shows that children between the ages of 3 and 5 think that birthday parties cause aging. 

Ivan is a four-year-old boy in New York. His mother celebrated his birthday with him when he was 1 year old. Then when he was 2, they celebrated his birthday again, and the year after, when he was 3, they also celebrated his birthday. 

But this year, the mother felt so bad for her son. Because she got sick before Ivan’s birthday and she could not give a birthday party to him. So, on Ivan’s birthday, Ivan cried sadly, “no party today, no growing older this year!”
