Thousands of university student singles in East China’s Anhui Province took part in a blind date(相亲) last week. On Saturday night, around 5,000 students met at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC中国科学技术大学) in Hefei for "Beautiful Encounter." The cross-school activity aimed to help young men studying at male-heavy universities connect with girls at different schools, organizers said. Long lines of students were waiting on the playground to go into the meeting room. Once inside, students took part in games to help break the ice and were given chances to show off what they are good at.

Beautiful Encounter has been well received by university students in Hefei each year since 2003, read the report. While some supported the blind date, others felt that college students are too young for it. "College students still have no idea about the pressures they will face. Since they are not ready to start a family, blind date at such an early age is irresponsible," wrote a Net user. The comment got over 600 likes.
