I paid a visit to Nigeria(尼日尼亚), Africa four years ago. That was the first time I went abroad.
I arrived at Lagos Airport in the afternoon, then my Nigerian friend took me to his hometown. I was going to spend the coming few days there. We traveled on a bus. It took us about 12 hours to get to his home. So we arrived the next day.
My friend has a big family. His father has several wives, and every of them gave birth to several kids. My friend told me that he has about 14 brothers and sisters. All wives don’t live together in one house. They may live in different houses, or even in different states.
I was warmly welcomed by his family as soon as I arrived at his house. Everyone was very happy to see a Chinese come to visit them. And his family were really nice to me. But one thing happening later surprised me. When it was time for supper, I was invited to a big dinner in the dining room. They asked me to sit down and start to enjoy the big meal. I looked around and waited for my friend’s mother coming. However, she never came! In fact, women are not going to eat together with the family in most cases.
