到底有多少只乌鸦呢?

One day the king Akbar and his clever officer Birbal were taking a walk in the palace garden. It was a nice summer morning and there were plenty of crows happily playing around the pond. While watching the crows, a question came into Akbar’s head. He was wondering how many crows there were in his kingdom.

Since Birbal was walking together with him, he asked Birbal this question. After thinking for a short moment, Birbal answered with a smile, “There are ninety-five thousand four hundred and sixty-three crows in the kingdom.”

Surprised by his quick answer, the king tried to test him again, “What if there are more crows than you answered?” Without hesitating, Birbal answered at once, “If there are more crows than my answer, then some crows are visiting from other neighboring kingdoms.” Amazed by his clever answer, the king asked again, “And what if there are less crows?” “Then some crows from our kingdom have gone on holidays to other kingdoms.”
