The 632-meter Shanghai Tower will become China's tallest building. It will also be the world's second-tallest after the 828-meter Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai.

The tower is going to reach a height of 632 meters in Pudong's Lujiazui. The work began in 2008 and it is going to be put into use on January 1, 2015. People will see house offices, shops, a five stars hotel, gardens and viewing platforms in this building. 

Its designer is Marshall StrabalaIts from America. He wants to design the Shanghai Tower as one of China’s greenest skyscrapers. In the building, he uses a special kind of glass to reduce the wind loads. 

In the future, the Shanghai Tower will be the tallest of a group of three supertall buildings in Pudong. The other two buildings are the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center.
