飞机用“地沟油”作燃料？
Hainan Airlines Flight 497 took off from Beijing at 14:15 on Tuesday, November 21st 2017, and headed to Chicago. The aircraft flew with biological aviation(航空) fuel that is produced from waste cooking oil, signaling the first China-US flight to use green aviation fuel. The flight will arrive at Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 12:55 local time on Tuesday, after flying 11,297 kilometers.
The fuel made from restaurants’ waste kitchen oil is produced at Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company, based in Ningbo, East China’s Zhejiang Province. It’s a subsidiary(子公司) of China Petroleum and Chemical Corp.
Sinopec(中国石化) said the jet fuel from restaurants’ waste kitchen oil will help to reduce carbon dioxide in the air and take better use of waste. Sinopec spokesman Lyu Dapeng said the aviation biofuel had met strict safety standards, and Sinopec will speed up the commercial application of the biofuel with the support of related parties, hoping it can be widely used in 2018.
In March 2015, Hainan Airlines made the first home flight with biological aviation fuel on a Boeing 737.
