过度抓捕青蛙带来严重后果

There was a poor village. One day, some businessmen from other places arrived. They said many people in the city liked eating frogs’ legs and they wanted to buy some frogs in the village.

There were so many frogs in the fields and the villagers thought frogs were useless to the village. All villagers decided to catch frogs and sold them at a good price. Villagers and businessmen reached an agreement. Villagers started to catch frogs. Every week a truck arrived to collect the frogs and gave villagers the money.

Villagers made a lot of money, but the situation didn’t last long. The crops failed, children got weak, and there seemed to be more insects. The villagers thought that they couldn’t just wait to see the crops failing and the children getting weak. The villagers spent so much money buying pesticides(杀虫剂) and medicine.

Finally, the villagers found out the reason for the problem. It was the frogs. The frogs were not useless. They ate insects. Now the insects were increasing more quickly because many frogs were killed. Insects were eating the crops and spreading diseases.
