艰难的坚持

Many things have changed because of the internet. In Shanghai, a magazine stand is facing the change. As a magazine seller, Wang Peixin with his wife Zhao could make ten thousand yuan a month before, but now it is usually ONE thousand. He has to decide whether to shut down or try to keep going.

The magazine stand has been selling newspapers and magazines for 34 years there. Many people knew Wang, they became his good friends. 30 years old Fang Dagong says he's been buying magazines at Wang's place for 15 years. As a music fan with special interests in both classical and electronic music, he says Wang always has what he needs. "I can't find them elsewhere, and with fewer bookstores in Shanghai, I always come to find what I need in brother Wang's place. I feel like home here. When I was 15 years old, I came here for the first time. Now I've already grown up and got married. "

At 61, Wang says he has no plans to retire, and he hopes more young people will come in the years. “I just want to have my magazine business. Many people have come to buy magazines from me, I can't let the store close, and change it for example, into a food store here."
