China’s spacecraft landed on the moon last week. The journey from Earth was 122 hours long. The spacecraft landed on a place on the near side of the moon. People can see this side from Earth.
The name of the place is the Ocean of Storms. It is a flat area. No spacecraft landed there before. The spacecraft will get about 2 kilograms of rock from the moon. Scientists will study the rock. The landing is big and special news. Chinese scientists are very excited.
Only two countries brought rock from the moon in the past. It happened in the 1960s and 1970s. The countries were the US and Soviet Union. At that time, they both wanted to be the first country to get into space and to the moon.
