“一袭汉服载风华！”山东曹县汉服产业焕发活力

Wang Bo, 34, is from east China’s Shandong Province. He lives in Ancailou Township of Caoxian County.

Wang was a migrant worker (农民工) before 2014, earning 2,000 to 3,000 yuan a month. Seeing the great growth of Hanfu industry in his hometown, he decided to return there. In the first month, he earned more than 200,000 yuan. Wang now owns a small factory with more than 20 workers, producing traditional Hanfu. Last year, they earned more than eight million yuan.

Hanfu is a traditional style of clothing worn by the Han people. In recent years, it has been loved by a large number of young Chinese, because of the growing popularity of social media (社交媒体) and a craze for traditional culture. “In the Ancailou Township where I live, almost all the young people born after 1995 are now doing Hanfu businesses,” Wang said. Over the past few years, he also witnessed (见证) a production chain of Hanfu taking shape in Caoxian.

However, few people know that the biggest Hanfu producing base in China is Caoxian County. In the first 9 months this year(2023), sales of Hanfu in the county reached a record high of 5.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 45.22 percent. About 40 percent of the total Hanfu in China’s home market was produced in Caoxian.

Wang Bo is now trying to complete the production line in his factory. “I can do everything now except printing,” he said. “So the cost of my clothes is about 15 to 20 percent lower than others. In the future I am going to pay more attention to high quality (质量).”
