Clair Rachel Howell is 27 years old. She works as a waitress at a restaurant in New York City’s Theater District.
One day, some diners were discussing their plans to see the Broadway (百老汇) show of “Merrily We Roll Along”. Clair Rachel Howell couldn’t help but join them. She said she wanted to watch the show. However, she couldn’t afford the money for the ticket. Little did she know that her words would give her a surprise.
As the diners finished their meal, they left Clair a $500 tip (小费) and a note. Clair was very excited, and she took to the Internet to share the moving story, posting photos from her unforgettable night out and expressing her thanks.
This is what she wrote: “So a magical moment happened to me the other day at work. My serving job is in the Theater District, so we get lots of people coming in before seeing Broadway shows. As usual I always ask them what they’re seeing, and the other night I had a family going to see Merrily We Roll Along. Now anytime I had tables going to see this show I told them how amazing I’m sure it would be, and how badly I wanted to see it! The family left and I found $500. Many thanks to the gentleman who gave me this gift. I hope you come in again so I can ▲ in person. Magic is still alive and so is love and kindness and good.”
