The workers at a Costco store are being called as heroes for their quick thinking, which finally saved the life of a co-worker.
The story happened in one day when a worker didn’t show up for his scheduled shift (安排好的轮班) at 5 a.m. The manager, Jesse Orsborn, was very worried. He decided to reach out and make sure everything was okay.
“In situations where someone might oversleep for the early shift, we usually give them a friendly wake-up call, checking if they’re on their way. However, this routine (惯例) check-in took an unexpected turn,” said Orsborn. When the worker answered the call, his speech was impossible to understand. “We started calling several times, and each time, it became more clear that something was seriously wrong.” Orsborn added.
Finally they found that the worker was in the midst of a stroke (中风). Without wasting any time, the quick-thinking colleagues kept the man on the line while others called the hospital. Thanks to their actions, the man was swiftly sent to the hospital and, luckily, later got back to health.
