It was a summer afternoon. I was a little boy watching my favorite program on TV. All that was about to change, ___1___. CRACK! BOOM! The lightning and thunder came. ___2___ my mom ran into the living room and ___3___ the TV antenna (天线) wire. I started to ___4___. But I knew mom wasn’t going to ___5___ lightening hitting our antenna. There was no way she was going to let me go ___6___ and play either so I ___7___ my chair and reread a book for the tenth time. She placed ___8___ coffee cans under the leaks in the roof that my dad hadn’t had a ___9___ to fix yet.
Later after the ___10___ and thunder had passed and only a gently falling rain ___11___, I saw mom walk out and ___12___ on our old swing and ___13___ the rain. She loved watching it water the flowers, forests and gardens. She enjoyed seeing it ___14___ rivers. She knew it would be ___15___ water to drink and wash and clean and live. She had told me all this many times too, but my young mind was too ___16___ then to take all in. All I knew was that rain storms ___17___ no TV and no playing outside.
This time, though, I took the time to watch it ___18___. I saw the peace on mom’s face as she did too. Quietly we watched the rain ___19___ the world. I couldn’t explain why but I was so ___20___ to just be there with her. And I was happy that it was raining too.
