    Long long ago, there was a girl named Zhu Yingtai. She was from Shangyu County, Zhejiang Province. She wanted to go to school. But girls couldn’t do that at that time. So she dressed up as a boy and went to study.

    At school, Zhu met Liang Shanbo. The two became good friends. In the following (接下来的) three years, Zhu and Liang lived, studied and traveled together, but Liang never discovered that Zhu was a girl.

    One day, Zhu’s father asked her to go back home. Before leaving, Liang promised (承诺) to visit Zhu’s family after finishing his studies. When he got to Zhu’s home, Zhu Yingtai dressed as a woman. Liang wanted to ask her to marry (嫁) him, but it was too late. Zhu would marry someone else she didn’t know.

    Liang Shanbo was very sad. He died because of this. A year later, Zhu went to see Liang’s tomb (坟墓) because Liang was the only man she loved. All of a sudden, the tomb opened, and Zhu jumped in. After some time, two beautiful butterflies came out of the tomb and flew away together.
