白蛇传:断桥结缘,情定人间

There are many versions of the Legend of the White Snake, but generally, the story is set during the Southern Song Dynasty.
It tells of a white snake, Bai Suzhen, and a green snake, Xiao Qing, who take on human form and become two beautiful women. They set up home in the human world and meet the scholar Xu Xian at the Broken Bridge. Bai Suzhen falls in love with him and eventually marries him, without Xu knowing her a snake.
One day, Xu Xian visits a temple to pray for his family’s well-being and meets a Buddhist monk named Fa Hai who warns Xu Xian that his wife is a snake and advises him to press her to drink some wine because it would change her into her real form.
Xu Xian follows that advice and because the white snake is pregnant and her magical powers are weakened, she turns into her snake form. When Xu Xian sees her in her true form, he dies of fright. Bai Suzhen is sad and steals the magical herb from Mount Kunlun to save him.
Later, Fa Hai seizes Xu Xian and forcefully separates him from Bai Suzhen and captures him to Jinshan Temple. Bai Suzhen decides to launch a flood attack against Fa Hai to release Xu Xian. Both White Snake and Green Snake defeat Fa Hai and meet Xu Xian again. However, Bai Suzhen is eventually captured and imprisoned in the Leifeng Pagoda by Fa Hai after her giving birth to a son.
Xiao Qing has been trying to free White Snake from Leifeng Pagoda. Meanwhile, Xu Xian raises their child who eventually emerges as a top scholar in the imperial examinations. The new imperial scholar pays respects to his mother at the Leifeng Pagoda. Xiao Qing finally succeeds in attacking Leifeng Pagoda and crumbling (损坏) it. Bai Suzhen is able to be reunited with her husband, her son and Xiao Qing after finally defeating Fa Hai.
