中国民间传奇故事：孟姜女哭长城
Once upon a time, there was an old man. He grew gourds (葫芦) in his yard. One gourd grew so big. It reached his neighbor’s house. They found a baby girl inside the gourd! Both families wanted to keep her. They decided to raise her together. They named her Meng Jiang Nv.
Meng Jiang Nv married Fan Xiliang. But soldiers took him to work on the Great Wall. After a year, Meng heard no news of Fan. She went to the Great Wall to find him. She knew that Fan died. She cried for three days, and a part of the wall fell down. She found Fan’s body (尸体).
Qinshihuang wanted to punish Meng. But when he saw the beautiful woman, he changed his mind. He asked her to marry him. Meng agreed but ask him for 3 things. At last, Meng Jiang Nv jumped into the sea and died.
