Tuesday, on November 12th, president-elect Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency”. The news quickly drew global attention, especially from those who admire Musk’s work.
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will help my team break down government bureaucracy (官僚主义), cut back on useless rules, cut unnecessary spending, and reorganize Federal Agencies,” Trump said. “I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans.”
Elon Musk is a businessman and known for his companies like SpaceX and Tesla. He has inspired many by making space travel cheaper with SpaceX and changing the car industry with electric cart through Tesla. He also plays important roles in Neuralink and OpenAI. He is one of the richest persons in the world. Many see him as someone who can achieve what others thought was impossible. In his new government role, Musk aims to bring his unique ideas and energy to improve government operations. He said the budget for the federal government could be shrunk by at least $2 trillion. The work of the department, Trump said, will end no later than July 4, 2026. “I am confident they will succeed!” Trump said.
