中国民间神话传说故事之《精卫填海》
A long, long time ago, there lived a little princess. Her name was Nvwa. She was the youngest daughter of Emperor Yan.
The little princess loved watching the sunrise. She enjoyed the beauty of nature. She asked her father where the sun rises. He said it was in the Eastern Sea. He promised to take her there on a boat to see the sunrise. But he was always too busy.
One day, the little princess secretly took a boat to the Eastern Sea. When she was on the boat, a strong wind came and overturned her boat. She died because of that.
After the little princess died, her spirit turned into a beautiful bird. People named it Jing Wei. Jing Wei hated the sea for taking her life. She decided to fill up the sea.
From then on, Jing Wei flew back and forth from the mountain to the sea. She carried a twig (细枝) or a pebble (鹅卵石) and dropped it into the sea. She did this every day without stopping.
