How do you make Chinese tea? The steps and methods vary by type, but some basic steps to make Chinese tea are similar.
Step 1: Hot tea sets
Pour boiling water into all tea sets and drain the teapot and teacups. This warms up the tea sets, keeps the tea soup at a steady temperature, and also cleans them.
Step 2: Put tea leaves into the teapot
The amount of tea leaves depends on the type of tea and your preference. For strong tea, add more leaves; for light tea, add fewer.
Step 3: Wash the tea leaves
Pour hot water into the teapot, wait a few seconds, and then pour out the water. This removes dust, pesticides, or other things on the tea leaves. Some teas are already washed clean during the processing and don’t need this step.
Step 4. Pour in hot water
Usually, fill the teapot with water up to 4/5 full, leaving some space for the tea leaves to spread. The brewing time is generally about 5 minutes. The longer you brew, the stronger the tea will be.
Step 5: Pour tea soup into fair cup
The tea should be poured into the warm fair cup first, shake it evenly (均匀地) and then pour into the guests’ cups. This ensures everyone gets the same taste, which is why it’s called the fair cup.
Step 6: Serve tea
When serving tea, put the tea cup on a tray and place it in front of the guest’s right hand.
Step 7: Savor tea
After the tea is served, first look at its shape and color instead of drinking right away. Then smell it before tasting.
