老人遗嘱分未果,智者一策定均和

Once upon a time, an old man lived with his three sons in a village. He had 17 camels, which he used to rent out for carrying goods.
One day, the old man died, and he left a will (遗嘱). According to the will, the oldest son would get half of the 17 camels, the middle son would get one third of the 17 camels, and the youngest son would get one ninth of the 17 camels.
The three sons tried for many days to find a solution but couldn’t. So they went to ask a wise man in their village for help. The wise man listened carefully and then asked them to bring all the camels to him. The wise man added his own camel to make it 18. Now he could divide the camels as the will said: The oldest son got half of 18, which is 9 camels. The middle son got one third of 18, which is 6 camels. The youngest son got one ninth of 18, which is 2 camels.
Totally, there were 17 camels shared by the brothers. The wise man then took back his own camel. This way, each son got their fair share according to the will.
