项链失窃，棍子断案
A rich man lost a gold necklace (项链) at his home. Some servants were working there. He thought maybe one of the servants stole it. He asked each servant, but no one admitted.
The rich man went to the judge with his problem. All the servants came to court. But they all said they didn’t steal it. Then the judge had an idea. He gave each servant a stick of the same length (长度) and told them to bring it back tomorrow.
He said that if someone stole the necklace, their stick would grow an inch. At home, all the servants kept their sticks the same. But the thief cut his stick shorter by an inch.
The next day when everyone showed their sticks, one was an inch shorter. That’s how the judge found out who the thief was.
