In the 2025 Spring Festival Gala, a group of lively humanoid robots in colorful floral jackets and red handkerchiefs attracted the audience’s attention with their Yangko dance. The program, named “YanBOT,” was directed by Zhang Yimou and featured 16 robots and 16 dancers from the Xinjiang Arts Institute. The robots, known as H1, were equipped with advanced technologies such as high-precision 3D laser SLAM autonomous positioning and navigation, multi-agent collaborative planning, advanced networking solutions, and full-body AI motion control. These technologies enabled the robots to move steadily and perform synchronized dance moves. The robots could also “understand” music and adjust their movements in real time to match the rhythm. The robots’ skeleton-like design, without pants, was intentional to create a striking contrast with human dancers. The robots’ ability to spin and throw handkerchiefs was made possible by their 19 joints and additional motors in their arms. The robots were named “Fu Xi,” symbolizing the integration of traditional culture and technological innovation.
