57岁大姨靠流利英语卖苹果，强势 “C位出道”
57-year-old Li Xiaoxia is known online as “Sister Xia, the Yantai Apple Lady”. This retired high school English teacher has become an unexpected Internet star by selling apples in fluent English. Her simple farming appearance mixed with excellent language skills has won the hearts of over 150,000 followers on short video platforms.
It all started on January 30th when Xiaoxia posted her first video introducing Yantai apples in English. The video quickly spread widely, receiving 179,000 likes and 11,000 comments. Netizens were amazed, leaving messages like, “Your English is so impressive!” “You’re the best English speaker among apple farmers!”
Behind her success is her niece, Li Xiaoya, who helps write scripts (脚本), edit videos, and manage the account. Xiaoya explained, “Our goal is to sell apples from our 1,500-acre orchard (果园).” Since their first live stream during the Spring Festival, Xiaoxia has hosted 10 live streams, with viewers increasing from a few hundred to over a thousand per stream.
But Xiaoxia’s story isn’t just about selling apples. In her videos, she shares life lessons and encourages learning. “I’m nearly 60 years old, but I still read every day,” she says. Her message is clear: ▲ In one video, she also asks her young followers, “Dear children, is reading useful?”
