On February 27, Chengdu showed the torch for the 2025 World Games, named “Bamboo Dream” — the first torch ever created for the event. Inspired by ancient Chinese culture and modern ideas, the torch was shown inside a beautiful Shu Brocade (蜀锦) box.
The name “Bamboo Dream” means “chasing dreams”. The 72-centimeter-tall torch mixes the shape of bamboo and the Sanxingdui bronze statue, a famous ancient artwork. Its top has two bamboo shoots that look like open arms, welcoming people from all over the world.
The torch uses green and silver colors. Green stands for Chengdu’s parks and eco-friendly efforts, while silver represents technology and energy. Together, they show China’s focus on nature and innovation (创新).
Special designs cover the torch. The center has the Games’ mascots (吉祥物), Shu Bao and Jin Zai, and its logo. The fire outlet is shaped like a sun crown from the Jinsha Site, and the base uses phoenix patterns (凤纹) from Sanxingdui. These details connect ancient history with sports spirit.
The World Games is a major event for sports not in the Olympics. Chengdu will host it from August 7 to 17, 2025. The torch’s theme, “Join the Games, Light the Dream,” invites everyone to celebrate sports and friendship.
