Recently, a colorful red wall has appeared near the Yizhan of Guloudong near Wuhan’s Yellow Crane Tower. From the wall, we can see many characters from the popular Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2. Its color matches the nearby red signboard that reads “Wuhan Welcomes You.” This creative artwork has quickly become popular. Many tourists come here to take photos.
The film Ne Zha 2 has achieved global popularity this year, showing the rise of Chinese animated films. To support Chinese animations and share Chinese culture, the Yizhan team decided to turn a white wall into this lively red artwork. They also added light strips, making the wall shine beautifully at night.
Ms. Ouyang, the project manager, explained, “We named this area ‘Yi Zhan’ to create a free rest spot for tourists. No purchase (购买) is required, and we aim to improve their experience in Wuhan.” From March to May each year — Wuhan’s busiest travel season — Yi Zhan offers free restrooms, hot water, and luggage storage (行李寄存). Visitors praise it as both artistic and practical.
This Nezha Red Wall not only supports Chinese animation but also makes cultural exchange fun.
