美宇航员滞留太空9个月终返地球
On March 16th, 2025, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon (龙飞船) finally arrived at the International Space Station (ISS). Two American astronauts, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, will come back to Earth in it.
On June 5th, 2024, Williams and Wilmore arrived at the ISS. Their spacecraft was scheduled to return on June 14th, 2024. However, technical problems made it unsafe for them to return. Then they had to stay much longer than planned. Now they are one step closer to returning to Earth after being stuck on the ISS for over nine months.
To bring them home, NASA turned to SpaceX for help. The Crew Dragon, carrying four new astronauts, will transport Williams, Wilmore, and two other crew members back to Earth. Their ocean landing is expected to happen no earlier than March 19th, 2025.
Even with special training, astronauts’ bodies can change during unexpected long stays in space. During the nine months on the ISS, Suni Williams’s face slimmed down to a sharp V-shape. People worried about her health because of this.
