大蒜咖啡“出”村巷,乡村经济绽光芒

Dai used to be a worker in Beijing. He created special garlic coffee in a Chengdu village. “For many, the garlic smells terrible. We take away the strong garlic smell but keep the good taste,” Dai says.
In 2022, Dai’s team turned an empty building in the village into a cheap workspace. They chose garlic coffee first because the village grows lots of garlic. “Chengdu has many coffee lovers. They like trying new things,” Dai said.
The coffee is priced at 25 yuan per cup. Daily sales have exceeded 2,000 yuan recently. They also made rice and kale (羽衣甘蓝) coffee, with plans for five new flavors (口味) using farm products in this village.

The coffee helped the village sell more garlic at better prices. Many tourists now come to try the special drink. That helps local farmers sell their crops. Some young people have even returned home to grow garlic and start businesses. “Our garlic coffee makes the village famous,” said village leader Yan Zeju.
