“瓷娃娃”刘晓菊:一针一线绣出生命繁花

Liu Xiaoju was born in 1987 in Hunan. She has brittle bone disease (疾病). She stands under one meter tall. People called her “Porcelain Doll (瓷娃娃).”
Liu missed school for years because of her disease. She began school at 15. Her older sister carried her to school every day. But later, her sister was ill and couldn’t help her. Liu had to drop out of school at 18. Liu was very sad at that time. But an art teacher helped her. Liu learned Hunan embroidery. She practiced it 10 hours every day!
In 2020, Liu opened the Ju Girl Xiangxiu Dream Workshop. Here, she taught over 800 students. Most of her students are disabled (有残疾的). “I want to pass on this craft, so more disabled friends can stand firm (稳固的) in society,” Liu said.
