鸿蒙电脑正式发布,或成为“全球操作系统第三极”

Recently, Huawei Technologies Co. launched its personal computers. These PCs use HarmonyOS, a self-developed operating system. Huawei hopes to break the control of Microsoft’s Windows and Apple’s macOS in the desktop OS market.

Huawei said HarmonyOS for PCs took five years to develop. Over 10,000 top engineers and 20 research institutes worked on it. The company holds more than 2,700 core patents for this system.
For many years, Windows and macOS have led the global PC OS market. Most domestic (国内的) alternatives are based on Linux. Huawei wants to change this situation by creating its own OS. HarmonyOS connects hardware, software, chips, and cloud services. It has strong AI features and allows devices to work together easily.
The new PCs run on HarmonyOS 5. This system brings AI functions to the device itself, so it doesn’t need much cloud connection. Its “develop once, deploy (部署) everywhere” design cuts development time and costs. This helps solve a big problem for domestic software that used to adapt to Windows’ complex system.
Earlier this month, Huawei said over 2,000 applications are being adjusted for HarmonyOS PCs. More than 300 of them are already ready to use. With these efforts, Huawei aims to build a stronger domestic OS ecosystem and offer users more choices.
