First, let’s learn how to stop fires from starting. Never play with fire or electrical things at home. Always turn off the power and gas before you leave your house. Also, stay out of the kitchen. If oil catches fire, don’t use water! Just cover the pan and turn off the fire.
What should you do if there is a fire? If the fire is small, get out fast! Always use the stairs, never the elevator (电梯). But if you see a lot of smoke or feel too hot, do not go through it. Go back to your room, close the door, and put wet clothes under it. Then, wave something colorful at the window to call for help. You can also learn to use a fire extinguisher. Just remember: Pull, Aim, Squeeze (压), and Sweep.
