
From a security guard (保安) to a lawyer, Liu Zheng is a great example who can make dreams come true by working hard.
Liu, 33, grew up in a small 1 in Hebei Province. After finishing school in 2015, he took a job as a security guard at Peking University. However, he had a bigger dream—to be a lawyer one day, 2 he worked hard to follow his dream.
In 2016, he started studying for the law exam. He worked from 5 p.m. to midnight. The next morning, he still got up 3 to audit (旁听) law courses.
The teachers and students were very kind to him. Many teachers gave him the latest textbooks (最新教材) and 4 him to audit their courses. One teacher, Zhang Shuanggen, once gave Liu a textbook. In it he wrote, “May you become a 5 lawyer.” Some students shared their notes with him. With their help, Liu studied 6 by himself and took the exam. He failed six times but he never 7 . Finally, he passed in 2022. This year, he 8 the university and began working at a top law firm (顶级律所) in Beijing.
Liu’s story 9 many people. A student from Peking University says, I often see Liu in the self-study rooms. Even though we don’t 10 each other, he teaches me that with hard work, even the biggest dream can come true.
