David, aged 14, wants everyone in his school to know they’re important members of the school. People are connected with each other. No one is an island.
One day, David saw a sad boy on the playground. After talking with the boy, he knew that the boy felt lonely because he couldn’t fit in well in the school. David remembered seeing some other students who felt lonely, too. This made David come up with an idea. He wanted to give something special to everyone in the school to remind them that they were connected. David told his parents his idea. And they were very glad to support him.
After discussing the idea with his teachers and classmates, he decided on buttons (徽章). Together with his classmates, David printed the buttons with the sentence “You Belong Here!” Then they gave the buttons to each student in the school. David hoped that the buttons would help the students remember that they all belonged here. He also hoped the students could make friends actively.
