On October 18, 2025, Lu Jingyi, a young Chinese girl born after 2000, became one of the “Shanghai WorldSkills Global Dream Ambassadors” in Croatia. She will work with 10 other top skilled ambassadors around the world to help promote (推广) the 48th WorldSkills Competition to be held in Shanghai next year.
Lu is a student at Henan Chemical Technician College. She didn’t choose this college at first. In 2020, she failed the high school entrance exam and had to come here. She once felt bad about the school, thinking it was only for “bad students”. But later she found that she was good at chemistry — lessons were easy for her, and she gained confidence. Inspired by her senior schoolmate who won a gold medal in the same skill competition, she began her training.
She trained hard for two years, practicing chemical analysis (分析), instrument use and other skills. In 2024, she took part in the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, and won the gold medal in Chemical Laboratory Technology.
