China has sent two new giant pandas to Malaysia. This is part of a 10-year program to protect giant pandas together.
The pandas are named Chen Xing and Xiao Yue. They took a plane from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Malaysia on November 18, 2025. China and Malaysia agreed to extend (延长) their panda protection cooperation (合作) in April, so the two pandas were chosen for this new program. Chen Xing is a male panda born in August 2020. He is active and likes climbing trees and playing in water. Xiao Yue is a female panda born in September 2020. She has a gentle personality and loves eating and playing.
To keep them safe and healthy on the trip, the panda center prepared fresh bamboo, bamboo shoots, water and medicine. A keeper and a vet from China went with the pandas, and Malaysia sent two vets too. The staff will stay with the pandas until they get used to their new home at Zoo Negara.
