On the evening of December 7, the 2025 ITTF Mixed Team World Cup final was held at Sichuan Gymnasium. China beat Japan 8-1 and won the championship (锦标赛) with 11 straight wins.
The Mixed Team World Cup is a new event. This is the third time for this championship. China took home the title in the first two championships, while Japan’s best result before was third place. This time, China entered the final with ten wins, and Japan reached the final after beating Germany 8-3.
In the final, the mixed doubles was played first. Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha from China played against Japan’s pair. They won three games in a row, with scores of 11-4, 11-4 and 11-6. China took a 3-0 lead. Next was the women’s singles. Wang Manyu of China played against Japan’s player. She won the first game 11-6, then took the next two games 11-7 and 11-6. The last match was men’s singles. Lin Shidong of China played against Japan’s star. Japan won the first game 11-6, but Lin bounced back to win the next two games. Finally, China won the final with an 8-1 score.
This victory fully shows China’s strong table tennis strength. It also helps the team prepare well with useful experience for the next Olympics.
