梁文锋、杜梦然入选《自然》年度十大科学人物
Two outstanding Chinese figures have been included in the 2025 ‘Nature’s 10’ list. This annual list selects 10 people who played key roles in the year’s most important science stories. They are Liang Wenfeng, founder of the Chinese AI firm DeepSeek, and Du Mengran, a great Chinese geoscientist (地学科学家).
Liang is recognized for driving the development of powerful AI models. In January, his company released the R1 model. It is not only powerful but also cost-effective. This move shocked the AI world and showed that the US was not as far ahead in AI as many experts thought.
Du is famous for her pioneering deep-sea exploration. She led dives to the hadal zone, the deepest part of the ocean that is over 6,000 meters down. At the Kuril-Kamchatka Trench, she and her team discovered the deepest known animal ecosystem (生态系统) on Earth.
Nature’s 10 is not a prize or a ranking. The 2025 list covers many fields, from AI and deep-sea research to biomedicine (生物医学) and public health. It shows how scientific advances are shaping our world in 2025.
