On the afternoon of December 9, many vegetable sellers gathered by Houhu 5th Road in Jiang’an District, Wuhan. Chen Wenjing was one of them. She was a girl born after 2000. She greeted every customer warmly, picked vegetables, packed them, and gave back the change fast. She was very busy.
Chen’s stall looked like others at first. But if you look closely, you will find she sells water-grown vegetables. The fresh lettuce, leaf mustard and tomatoes were put neatly. They looked clean and nice, so many local people came to buy them.
Chen used to be a Chinese teacher. She lived in Shiyan, Hubei for years, but she wanted to try new things in a big city. This June, she found water-grown vegetables in Wuhan. She thought they were good and not very common in the market, so she started selling them.
At first, she sold corn, but few people bought it. She felt sad. Then she tried water-grown vegetables. To her surprise, her vegetable sales got better and better. Now she can sell vegetables worth more than 1,000 yuan a day.
Many customers like her vegetables. They say the vegetables are fresh and tasty. Chen has a WeChat group of 200 fans. She tells them her daily vegetables and selling time. She hopes to open a fresh food store in the future.
