Last weekend, something special happened in a quiet village in Chongqing. A young woman named Daidai was worried about her elderly father. Her father was too old to handle the family’s traditional “killing the New Year pig (杀年猪)” event. So Daidai posted a video online asking for help. She also invited people to come and join a “pig-killing feast”.
To her surprise, thousands of strangers from all over China came to help! The roads to the village were full of cars. People brought gifts and worked together like old friends.
So many guests came that two pigs were not enough. Luckily, neighbors and the local culture department offered three more pigs. All the pork from the pigs was cooked for over 3,000 visitors. Everyone there helped happily — some washed dishes, some cut vegetables, and some helped with the pigs.
Local cooks worked very hard to cook enough food. The government also helped by managing the traffic and even offering free tickets to a nearby historic site.
