
On January 20, China’s U23 men’s football team played against Vietnam. It was a very important match in the AFC U23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
This was China’s first time in the semi-final (半决赛). The young players wanted to make history. They played well in the first half, but the score was 0-0.
In the second half, China scored the first goal! Peng Xiao headed the ball into the net from a corner kick. Soon, Xiang Yuwang scored another goal. China was now winning 2-0.
Later, Peng Xiao scored again, but the goal was canceled after a review by the video assistant referee (VAR). The goal was scored from an offside position (越位位置). Vietnam then had only 10 players on the field after a red card. Near the end of the match, China scored once more and won 3-0.
