A middle school teacher became a hero recently. She saved a student who was choking (窒息) during lunchtime.
The student, Dalton, was eating a burger when he suddenly couldn’t breathe. He felt a sharp pain in his throat and his face started to turn blue. His teacher, Ms. Hodge, noticed him holding his throat. She knew he was in serious danger right away.
Without a second thought, Ms. Hodge ran to help. She used a first aid method called the Heimlich maneuver, which she learned long ago at another job. Her quick action worked, and the food blocking Dalton’s throat came out.
Dalton and his mother are deeply thankful for Ms. Hodge’s bravery. The teacher says helping students is her most important job. This special moment created a lifelong connection between the student and the teacher who saved him.
