除夕到元宵,年味不打烊

Chinese New Year is a very important and long festival in China. It is not just one day, but over two weeks of celebrations. People follow the lunar calendar for this festival. In 2026, it will begin on February 17th and end on March 3rd.
The celebrations start with Chinese New Year’s Eve, on February 16th. This is the most important night. Families gather for a big reunion dinner and stay up late together. The next day, New Year’s Day, is for visiting family, giving gifts, and wishing everyone good luck.
The following days all have special meanings. For example, on the second day, married women visit their parents. The fifth day is called “Break Five,” when some old rules can be broken. The seventh day is “Day of Mankind,” a day to enjoy being outside.
The festival ends with the Lantern Festival on March 3rd. On this night, people light beautiful lanterns, watch exciting dragon dances, and solve fun riddles. It is a bright and happy way to finish the celebrations and welcome the new year.
