An 85-year-old lady named Nana Abernathy lived in North Carolina. Her husband just passed away, and she had no firewood (木柴) to keep warm. She had no social security money until the next week, so she called a tree removal company and hoped for help.
Paul Brittain, the owner of the company, answered the call. He felt sorry for the old lady and decided to give her firewood for free. He took the firewood to her home, hugged her and left. But he couldn’t stop thinking about her. So he went back with his team.
They did many free things for her: fixed her leaking roof, repaired the heating unit and even changed the tires for her car. Paul also started a GoFundMe for her and told her story to people. People gave a lot of help, and over $20,000 was raised for her.
A simple call for firewood became a warm story of kindness. With Paul’s help and other people’s love, Nana Abernathy would not spend the winter alone anymore.
