In China, we use 12 animals to name each year. This is our Chinese zodiac(生肖). 2026 is the Year of the Horse!
The 12 animals go in a cycle, like a circle. Every 12 years, the horse comes back. People say horses are strong, fast and brave. They run quickly and work hard. In the Year of the Horse, we hope to be as active and brave as a horse.
When the New Year comes, families get together. We eat dumplings, get lucky money, and say “Happy New Year!” Everyone wishes for a lucky and fun year ahead.
