以微光护生灵:深圳湾的生态智慧

Shenzhen Bay Park is on an important path for migrating (迁徙) birds. Every winter, tens of thousands of birds stop there to rest. Bright lights at night can disturb them. The lights make it hard for the birds to sleep and find their way. So the park managers began to dim the lights.

But they did not turn off all the lights. They kept some lights on at the main entrances and walkways. This keeps people safe while they walk at night. The areas where birds rest are kept dark or with soft light. In 2023, Shenzhen made a law to control night lights. The park uses warm yellow lights instead of bright blue-white ones. These lights do not disturb the birds so much.

Because of these efforts, more birds and insects now live in the area. From 2015 to 2023, the number of bird species grew from 83 to 220. The number of insect species went up from 109 to 1,224.

Other cities in China are also learning from Shenzhen. In Hunan Province, some towns turn off lights in public places from September to November every year. Beijing and Chengdu also have rules to control night lighting. Shenzhen shows that a modern city can grow and still care about nature. Sometimes, turning off the lights is the best way to move forward.
