Mo’s Chicken Hot Pot is a small restaurant in Shunde, Guangdong. It has only about ten tables and used to be a quiet restaurant with only local customers.
In early April, a short video of its food became popular online and got over 900,000 likes. Soon, long lines appeared outside the restaurant. The restaurant owner said he was too tired and he even asked people not to come. But this made more people want to try the food there.
The owner, Lao Mo, now cooks 70 to 80 chickens every day. He feels very tired and even wants to close the restaurant for a while. The local government has taken steps to control the crowds, limiting it to 100 tables for lunch and 100 for dinner. Some customers wait for nearly 11 hours just to eat at his restaurant.
The restaurant is famous for its special soup. The soup is good for people’s health, because it uses some Chinese herbs, such as five-fingered peach root. The chicken is fresh and the price is not high. Many people love it because it is delicious and healthy.
