
Grain Rain, or Guyu, is the 6th solar term (节气). It usually comes between April 19 and 21. Its name means “rain feeds the grains and helps them grow”.
What is Grain Rain like?
•The weather gets warmer.
•There is more rain. It is good for young crops.
•Farmers are busy. They plant melons and beans.
•Peony flowers come out beautifully. They are the “Grain Rain flower”.
What do people do?
•In south China, people drink Grain Rain tea. It is fresh and healthy.
•In north China, people eat Chinese toon sprouts (香椿芽). They are tender and tasty.
