五四青年节:传承精神,多彩过节

Chinese Youth Day falls on May 4 every year. It comes from the great May Fourth Movement and carries the spirit of patriotism (爱国精神) and progress. Young people aged 14 to 28 can enjoy a half-day holiday on this special day to relax and take part in different activities.

Nowadays, people celebrate this festival in rich and colorful ways across the country. Many schools and youth groups organize meaningful social practice and volunteer activities. Young volunteers often go to nursing homes to help the elderly or assist traffic workers on busy roads to keep order.

Besides, many high schools hold traditional growing-up ceremonies for graduating students. In recent years, more and more college students choose to wear traditional school uniforms to remember history. These simple and warm activities help young people understand the meaning of the festival and pass on fine spirits from generation to generation.
