Nikolai loves to carry all kinds of things in his mouth. “As a 10-week-old puppy, Nikolai started bringing objects to me,” Allie Rudman, his owner, said. “He first started with my shoes. And later he turned to other things like car keys and empty boxes.” The things Nikolai chooses change depending on his mood, but they usually belong in the kitchen.
Recently, a loaf(一条) of bread has become one of Nikolai’s interesting choices.
It all started when Allie got back home with a lot of food. As soon as she put the food down, this dog ran to the kitchen and found the bread. “He was standing by the door, so I let him take it,” she said. “I think he wanted to bring it because it’s his favorite food!”
“He carried it for the whole walk and didn’t drop it on the ground—I was laughing all the way. A group of little kids playing outside saw him walking with the bread. They all pointed and laughed at him and thought it was the greatest thing,” Allie added.
Although there’s no way to know for sure what Nikolai is thinking about when he chooses an object to carry, it seems that doing so makes him feel safe and useful.
